Some good, some not so, that is the way
Life happens to us, we cannot shy away

Inspiration to a young mother!!

In June 2009, my daughter Priya and her hubby Kartik became proud parents of a baby boy. They named him Prithvi. After a few months of maternity leave, when she resumed work, I knew what Priya was going through.... the feelings of guilt which each mother feels as she leaves a tiny tot behind to go after a career, even if it is for just a few hours a day, the heavy feeling that goes within herself as she is wrung between professional and personal responsibilities. Being a working mother myself, I knew this was the time to give my daughter all the moral support that she needs. So I sent off a 'Best Wishes' e-card alongwith the following poem. Pat came a reply that the poem said it all...

Dear Priyu,
You indeed have progressed in life
Also got married, became Kartik's wife....
‘Prithvi's mom’ a designation, new
But, as always, you are YOU!!!

Take care, have patience and think straight
'Adjustment' will be your soul-mate
Get on with life, take responsibilities along
Continue your dual role - as you sing a song!!

My entry to the Personality-Photograph contest!!

My life turned different since the beginning of year 2008 ! How and why?... you may ask. The reason is the formation of the SIES1969 Group! Most of the students who passed out of SSC (Std XI) from SIES High School, Matunga, Mumbai 400019 in the year 1969 got together - thanks to the brainwave and hardwork of Dr. Subramanian (Mani). Mani and a few of our batchmates fine-combed wherever possible and collected contact details of many of us and presto! we had the 1st reunion after 39 years of seperation on 24.02.2008.

We decided to keep in touch continuously and thus formed a GoogleGroup named 'SIES1969' with Dr. Ravi Ramakantan as our moderator. Since then there is no looking back at all! We have messages being exchanged on any and every topic. Every emotion - nostalgia, humour, seriousness, concern and total friendship- is expressed unabashedly through this media.
On 22.02.2009, Sunday, we planned our 2nd SIES1969 reunion. Ravi wanted us to send in entries for a very novel photo-contest. He insisted that the criteria of the contest is that the photograph of the member should depict as many qualities she/he possesses as can be done in one single shot. Some batchmates (including Ravi) sent in their entries and one was better than the other. Here is mine. The photograph expresses my devotion to the power above, love for books, dedication to the employment in the education field, career responsibilities, love for writing poems, assistance rendered to students, passion for music , up-to-date with current news, time-consciousness, etc.

Ravi was liberal with funny remarks while going through the details of my photograph! I enjoyed every bit of it as, according to me, there is nothing but good wishes and sporting spirit between friends. Here is my entry photo. Enjoy! - Shanta
