Happy Teacher’s Day 2024 : 05-09-2024

 

I did my schooling in SIES High School, Matunga, Mumbai, INDIA. I passed my SSC Examination from this school in 1969. Our batch of SIES-1969 are very active in our school happenings. A few of us visit our school every year on Teacher's Day, ie September 05 and show our appreciation to the teachers of our alma mater with a bouquet, sweets, greetings etc. This year, on Teacher's Day,  we were happy to share the following poem written by me. Enjoy reading the same!!

We passed SSC 55 years ago

We are the students of 1969 Batch

Now we are Seventy+ years young (!)

Great respect, to this school, we attach….

 

Gurus are not the ones who just teach

In and out they should try and heal

To make them reach brighter years

Each student’s pulse, they should feel!

 

Our teachers were our real Gurus

In their subjects, they would deeply dwell

We still remember all of them

And have fond discussions, as well!!

 

Years have passed, but we have not missed

Wishing our teachers on this special day

As today’s teachers too play a role

In students’ life, in many ways….

 

How can we help? we often ask,

To make our school even better

Our batch is still ready to get involved

To continue to be a trend-setter!!

Have always been our shining stars

From ‘1969’, we vouch for this

Because of our Gurus, WE ARE, where we ARE!!

Among Neptunites, through The Nook!!

We have many here to thank

To get this going, this far...

The founder, members, space givers

Each one, a shining star!

To catalogue all the donated books

We  have tiny helping hands

Young, impressionable, smart ones

Value of reading, they understand!

Adult volunteers spare valuable time

To visit and oversee

The book distribution process 

Their service free, without any fee!!

Hope who regularly file ITR have done so by last night!  Praying for the rain God to be merciful and pour where it is needed the most and be reasonable with other places.
